What this book is

Most books about money tell you how the author made it. This one teaches you to understand it.

There are as many ways to build wealth as there are people, so copying someone else's method rarely works. What works is understanding the game: what money actually is, why a mortgage can leave you working for the bank, why two people with the same capital, the same idea and the same timing end up in very different places, and why one goes broke while the other retires rich.

The book is in two parts. The first shows the systems that keep you a slave: money and its trade, the banks, debt, speculation, propaganda, education, and your own beliefs. The second gives the rules wealthy people live by, so you can stop working for money and have money work for you. Read the chapter guide.

It took me many years to finish this book, because it is about how money manipulates every system we live inside, and while we use money that matters. I rewrote it many times. I thought I had it finished, and then I was reminded that a great book is not finished when you cannot put anything else in, but only when you cannot take anything else out. With that in mind I cut 30,000 words out of the original draft. What is left is meant to be a concise, thoughtful and complete explanation of how to use the monetary system to your advantage, whatever your goals are.

I never had unlimited money, and lots of money was never as important to me as lots of time: time with my family while they were young. I have very often been the only dad in the room at school and at the sports field, and that has been a greater reward than any money I made or toy I bought. The money did let me do some fantastic things with my family too, and gave me options most people with a job never get.

If you have a dream, big or small, this book can help you find the money you need to achieve it, and often you can have it within months of making a new life plan. I have watched people reach their dreams almost immediately, just from the principles in this book and from being given permission to break the rules they were handed. So what is your dream?
